The certificate of election and robe-wearing ceremony was held for Mr. Mehmet Akarca, who was elected as the First President of the Court of Cassation on 24 March 2020 by the Grand Plenary Assembly of the Court of Cassation and after one minute of silence in the spiritual presence of Atatürk, a wreath was laid on his Mausaleum at Anıtkabir.  

Upon retirement of the First President of the Court of Cassation İsmail Rüştü Cirit on 23 March 2020 on age grounds, as per Article 154 of the Constitution and Articles 30 and 31 of the Court of Cassation Law no. 2797, the Chief Public Prosecutor of the Court of Cassation Mr. Mehmet Akarca, was elected as the First President of the Court of Cassation by the Grand Plenary Assembly of the Court of Cassation.
