President of the Court of Cassation Mr. Mehmet Akarca received the delegation consisting of prosecutors from the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who came to Türkiye to strengthen cooperation by sharing information and experience, within the scope of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Türkiye and Azerbaijan.

Mr. Akarca started his words by saying, “We are maintaining our relations with our brother country Azerbaijan on the principle of one nation, two states” and drew attention to the importance of cooperation between the two countries in the field of law.

The delegation headed by Dadaşov Ferid Zemanioğlu, Head of the Department of Strategic Planning and Risk Identification of the Science-Education Center of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan, is paying a study visit to our country between 17-27 October.

In the acceptance of the delegation, Mr. Bekir Şahin, Chief Public Prosecutor of the Court of Cassation, Mr. Eyup Yeşil, First Vice President of the Court of Cassation and Mr. Fevzi Yıldırım, Secretary General of the Court of Cassation were also present.

The President of the Court of Cassation Mehmet Akarca received Ms. Florence Kajuju, Kenyan Ombudsman and the African Ombudsman and Mediators Association Secretary General and Mr. Şeref Malkoç, Chief Ombudsman of Türkiye’s Ombudsman Institution and the accompanying delegation on October 18.

In his speech, at the reception of the delegation, Mr. Akarca stated that the complaints of the citizens are resolved in line with the suggestions of the Chief Ombudsman, thus eliminating the possibility of the case subject to complaint turning into a file and the burden of the judiciary has been alleviated.

Stating that the Chief Ombudsman fulfills an important duty in Türkiye, Mr. Akarca also said that they find the reports prepared by the Institution on human rights and judicial issues valuable.

During the visit, the delegation were also accompanied by Mr. Bekir Şahin, the Chief Public Prosecutor of the Court of Cassation and Mr. Fevzi Yıldırım, Secretary General of the Court of Cassation accompanied the delegation and were shown around the Court of Cassation’s new facility and the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Mr. Mehmet Akarca, President of the Court of Cassation, received Ukrainian Judges and Lawyers came to Türkiye upon the invitation of the Embassy of Ukraine within the scope of “Institutional Training Visits Project” on 7 October. 

Mr. Akarca stated that he is very pleased to host the delegation at the Court of Cassation and expressed that he considers these visits that allow to share information and knowledge among colleagues important.

Mr. Akarca emphasized that there is a sincere relationship in the fields of trade, culture, and politics between Türkiye and Ukraine, and indicated that this should also be developed in the field of law.

The delegation was informed about the structure, capacity, duties and functions of the Court of Cassation through a presentation. The buildings of the Presidency of the Court of Cassation and the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Court of Cassation were visited.

Mr. Bekir Şahin, Chief Public Prosecutor of the Court of Cassation and Mr. Fevzi Yıldırım, Secretary General of the Court of Cassation also attended the meeting. 

Mr. Mehmet Akarca, President of the Court of Cassation, received Lawyer and Prof. Dr. Metin  Feyzioğlu, President of the Union of Turkish Bar Associations, Mr. Yazeed Makhloof, Vice President of the Palestinian Bar Association and accompanying delegations.

During the meeting held in the building of the Court of Cassation that was opened with the judicial year, Mr. Akarca stated that there is a strong historical, political and cultural connection and cooperation between our countries, governments and people.

Mr. Akarca expressed that a huge step was taken towards the cooperation in the field of judiciary with this visit, and wished a free and independent State of Palestine would exist forever.

Following the meeting, the guests visited the buildings of the Presidency of the Court of Cassation and the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Court of Cassation.

Mr. Bekir Şahin, Chief Public Prosecutor of the Court of Cassation, Mr. Eyup Yeşil, First Vice President of the Court of Cassation, Mr. Fevzi Yıldırım, Secretary General of the Court of Cassation also attended the meeting.

Mr. Mehmet Akarca, President of the Court of Cassation, received Dr. Maikel José Moreno Pérez, President of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, and accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, issues related to the development of existing cooperation between the Court of Cassation and the Supreme Court of Justice of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela were held.

Together with the delegation, the new facility of the Court of Cassation and the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office were also visited.

The delegation were accompanied by Mr. Adem Albayrak, First Vice President of the Court of Cassation, Mr. Rıdvan Gündoğdu, Deputy Chief Public Prosecutor, Mr. Fevzi Yıldırım, Secretary General of the Court of Cassation and Mr. Dr. José Gregorio Bracho Reyes, Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to Türkiye during the visit.
